2009 Spring Outdoor Sports

6 Fridays: April 17, 24, May 1, 8, 15, 29 (Please note we will not meet on May 22)

Rain dates if needed: June 5 and June 12

We will be doing 3 weeks of baseball and then the following weeks will be kickball, volleyball and soccer. Depending on how many children sign up we may need parents to help assist the YMCA coaches from time to time.

1:00p.m. - 2:00p.m. 4-6 year olds (t-ball, kickball and soccer)
2:00p.m. - 3:00p.m. 7-10 year olds
3:00p.m. - 4:00p.m. 11 and up

We will be playing on the fields at The Indian Valley YMCA Family Outdoor Center at 11 Pinney Street, Ellington , CT 06029.

H.E.A.T. Vernon Winter Sports 2009

This winter we are trying something different. We will meet for 6 weeks and for the first 5 weeks the kids will play a different sport each week. Then on the last week the kids will vote and play the sport that wins the vote. Our coach from the Y is Eric Senger. (Who by the way is currently studying to be a Gym teacher so this is right up his alley!)

Depending on how many children sign up we will need parents to help assist Eric. Please consider helping out. Thank you!

The children will learn and play:
Basketball
Dodgeball
Floor Hockey
Indoor Soccer
Volleyball

The one hour classes will start with stretching and warm ups, then instruction and playing time.
We will be playing in the gym at the Indian Valley YMCA.

Please register by Wednesday, September 3.
They will take walk-in registration or call them at 872-7329 and they can mail you a registration form. If you are unable to register by then please come 1/2 hour early on Thursday at the field to sign up and make payment.
$20 per child. Y membership not required. Please bring a soccer ball and shin guards are required. Cleats are optional.
We have one coach from the Y but we still need parents to help coach the children to make this program work! No skills are required, just a willing heart!

Needed:Parents to help coach. This is NOT a drop-off program, rather one where families should make a contribution in some way. We strive to provide a safe, educational, fun and positive experience for our homeschooled kids. We do have a Head Coach provided by the Y but we need additional parents to help with the drills and coaching. We also need parents to take turns keeping an eye on the children playing in the hallway while their siblings are playing basketball.
